Welcome back, Waggoner! #thereisaheroinallofus

Hello to the best team ever!
This is one of my favorite thing to do as a principal- preparing to welcome staff back for a new year! I await this day like the first day of school and love planning for it. This year is like no other and the preparation couldn't be more different. And yet we are still doing the same things - just in a new way. Not face to face. I am determined to make it, and YOU feel special. One thing I love doing is picking a theme for the year - and the theme for this year I discovered in March, right after we closed.
Calling all superheroes! That is what the spring taught me. If you ever get to see the staff room, you will see that quote on the wall. There is a hero within all of us. You are heroes to me. And so are our families and students! Everyone is going to be asked to do what seems impossible this year, to leap Distance Learning with a single bound! We are HERE FOR THIS! You are amazing. It is not easy, but it IS possible.

You might also be feeling like there is so much ahead of us, and there is. But we can only start where we are and move forward. I am thrilled to invite you to join me from home or at school for the learning that begins next week! We will charge up our Distance Learning superpowers together! Here are the agendas for those days. I look forward to learning and planning with you! Teachers have four days planned for August 18-21 and all classified staff are invited to join for optional training on those days anytime. We would love to have all classified who can make it join the Zoom session on August 20th from 9:30-11 as paid extra duty time -- your mission should you choose to accept! On the 24th, our classified team will have their own PD day, and we will have virtual district kickoff from 12:00-12:45 on the 25th. More classified info to come.

I also want to acknowledge that these times are filled with questions and uncertainty and I am right there with you! I know you have many questions, and I hopefully have answers! So that I can address your worries, please complete this form.  It will also help me to know who plans to be on campus for PD next week and for teaching. No worries if you are unsure. Just complete the best you can!

Finally, I would like to welcome our new Dolphin superheroes! Welcome to Juli Chang - TK-5 Instructional Coach, Clara Saunders - Kindergarten, Elise Martinez - 1st grade DBE, and Mike Williams, Music- WAG & WHS!  Also, we are so lucky to have two student teachers joining the DBE team in 2nd grade! Please join me in welcoming Jessica Herrera Cuevas and Jessica Nuñez to the Waggoner team!

Ready to power up with you for a fantastic and totally different kind of year!

Cheers,
Jennifer
